Project description
SoftBank's SB Energy is developing an 8 GW AI campus, measured in IT load and backed by at least 10 GW of new generation, at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Pike County. OpenAI signed a 20-year lease, and NVIDIA is the exclusive compute provider. Officials broke ground in March 2026. The first 800 MW phase starts construction in 2026, with capacity coming online from 2028 through a six-year buildout to 2032. A separately announced $33 billion gas plant is planned to power it.
