Project description

Box Elder County commissioners unanimously approved the Stratos project on May 4, 2026, after MIDA signed off in late April. The campus is in Hansel Valley, about 40 miles west of Tremonton, and spans up to 40,000 acres across three parcels. It would require 9 GW and has a Phase 1 permit covering under 2,000 acres. The projected final cost exceeds $100B, and a first gigawatt is possible within two years.
