Project description
In December 2024, ExxonMobil announced plans to build a dedicated 1.5 GW natural gas power plant to supply electricity for future data centers. This marks the company's first foray into power generation for external customers, driven by surging energy demand from AI and cloud providers. The project will integrate carbon capture technology designed to eliminate up to 90% of the plant's emissions. ExxonMobil has secured land and is in talks with hyperscale data center operators, aiming to deliver fast-track, reliable energy capacity while avoiding interconnection bottlenecks.
