On Feb. 8, 2024 Surry supervisors voted 3-2 to rezone the 641-acre site next to Dominion's Surry nuclear plant for Green Energy Partners' combined data center and hydrogen hub. Chmura projects 1,000+ permanent jobs by 2035.
